An early period jar, (3600-1000 BCE). The refined neck, thin walls, well formed foot and balanced symmetry reflects the sophistication of the early Ban Chaing potters. Constructed with anvil and paddle method and once pigment painted above and below the impressed cord design, this pot is from approzximately 2000 BCE. AS shown, there are cracks, small rim losses, chips to the foot and two small holes in the body resulting from use, age and burial. There is still an undeniable beauty to this piece despite these facts. Diameter 5.25", height 7". Feel free to call with inquiries.
