This strongly modeled Mon Dvaravati bronze head portrays the Buddha with a stern expression framed by long pendant earlobes and the high mound usnisa formed from the tightly curled hair (the top bead is missing). Fine patina and encrustations, no repairs. Thailand, 7th/8th Centuries. Approximately 3-3/4 inches high, exclusive of teakwood base.
