Pair of Parian Ware dog sculptures by Daniel Chester French. Daniel Chester French (1850 - 1931) is well known as the sculptor who created the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln which sits in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The sculptures are titled "Imposing on Good Nature" and "Retribution".
Both have the artist's name "D.C. French" impressed on side of base.
The sculptures are 5" in height and 6 1/4" in length.
The Imposing on Good Nature has the tip of small dog's tail missing and tip of his right ear missing. Retribution has the small dog's right fore leg repaired, bottom portion of his his left rear leg missing, crack across large dog's left rear leg. No other restorations.
A lovely and rare pair.
