The Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli is Florence's only remaining artistic foundry. Founded in 1910, it gained immediate fame for the quality and craftsmanship of its bronze casts, using the lost wax system and the same hand-finishing technique as the Florentine Renaissance sculptors. The quality of Marinelli's work is appreciated worldwide, for instance, the Holy Door of Saint Peter's Cathedral at the Vatican, the Monumental Stairs of the Vatican Museums, monuments for the US Department of Defence, the monumental horses at the Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C., the "The Pioneer's Cart" monument in Montevideo (Uruguay), the Monumental Fountain for the Broncos Stadium in Denver Colorado, the Cremlin restoration in Moscow and many others.
