A classically inspired bronze bust of American, more specifically New Jersey artist, Maxwell Simpson. This almost solid bronze bust of Mr. Simpson sat atop his New Jersey home for well over a half a Century. Maxwell Stewart Simpson was born in September of 1896. He began his formal training at the National Academy of Design and later attended classes at the Art Students League. In the early 1920's Simpson traveled to Europe and studied in France, Italy and England, often painting portraits for room and board. He also exhibited extensively while in Europe. He returned to America and further developed his own style a blending of Modernism and Realism.
