The mahogany, being lightly hand-distressed, hand-finished and hand-waxed, displays a distinct, fine grain and rich complexion that could only come from fine workmanship. The leather inlay on the top, which is bordered by hand-worked embossing and gold tooling, complements the mahogany beautifully, while the antiqued solid-brass swan neck pulls also contrast well with the wood. Optional satinwood crossbanding around the drawers places a nice emphasis on the style and class of the wood and brass configuration, while shaped paneling on the sides combines with ogee bracket feet to complete a traditional Georgian style appearance. Each of the file drawers locks with an accompanying key and features hand-cut dovetailed joints, which are yet another indicator of fine craftsmanship.
