circa: 2000 width: 56 height: 32 length: 24 This traditional Georgian style walnut writing desk was recently English-made as an antique reproduction. The design of this desk, simple and elegant, was perfected by the master craftsmen of the Georgian and Victorian periods; the result is a striking combination of beauty and utility that is all but absent in contemporary style furniture. Note, for example, the gorgeous walnut grain and complexion, rich and lustrous due to a fine production process. An inlaid writing surface of fine brown leather bordered by Georgian style gold tooling provides an area for writing far superior to wood, metal or glass, a fact learned long ago through practical Georgian furniture craftsmanship. The square legs end in removable casters, which provide convenient movement, while brass swan neck style pulls form a lovely complement to the walnut and brown leather. The three Georgian desk drawers offer plenty of storage space and feature dovetailed joints, while the central drawer face falls to reveal a space for a keyboard, so it may also be used as a computer desk.
