circa: 2000 width: 48 height: 34 length: 25 This English oak file cabinet is handmade in England as a reproduction of a Georgian Period antique. The gorgeous burr oak used in the making of this cabinet, being lightly hand-distressed, hand-finished and hand-waxed, displays a distinct, fine grain and a rich complexion that could only come from fine workmanship. The leather inlay on the top of the file cabinet, which is bordered by hand-worked embossing and antique style gold tooling, complements the burr oak beautifully, while the antiqued solid-brass swan neck pulls also contrast well with the wood. Optional satinwood crossbanding around the file drawers places a nice emphasis on the antique style and class of the wood and brass configuration, while shaped paneling on the sides combines with ogee bracket feet or plinth base to complete a traditional English antique style appearance. Each of the file drawers locks with an accompanying key and features hand-cut dovetailed joints, which are yet another indicator of fine craftsmanship. This fine English file cabinet will certainly function wonderfully for generations to come and would make a fantastic addition to any furniture collection!
