Tribal art mask from the Lega tribe settled along the Lualaba River in eastern DR Congo. Lega art is exclusively focused on and associated with the BWAMI society. Each object has a precise role and function within their ceremonies and rituals and is used only by the initiated. These artefacts are numerous and are created from a variety of materials, particularly wood, ivory, bone. Material: Wood. Some wear and tear, scrapes and distress. Height: 7 3/8 inches ( 18.5 cm).
