From a Washington D.C. collection, a very good quality carving depicting a Chief seated on a throne, holding the sacred root called, Munkwiza, which bestows supernatural powers. Hollowed to accommodate the whisk of animal tail, with residual in the hollow that held the whisk in place. In excellent condition, with only minor wear on the contact surfaces and one small chip in the rim. Accompanied by a custom metal display stand. Height 8". Mid Century, 1945 - 55.
