The Mangbetu are a Nilo- Sudanese people, originated from ancient Nubia.
The kingdom used to trade ivory.
In the late nineteenth century, European settlers arrived in the area and spend the kingdom under the rule of the Belgians. This is the end of the kingdom Mangbetu.
Symbol of power and royalty this sumptuous royal large finery presents a rare configuration of cowries and leopard teeth.
It is extended by a braiding of coral beads, glass beads, metal beads, a silver Berber jewelry and a ceremonial bell.
