Early 20th century box for dip pen nibs, Perry & Co's Naval Series Pens. Perry & Co. Ltd, Old Bailey, London. The warship on the lid is the H.M.S. "Formidable", the third of four ships of that name to serve in the Royal Navy, and was the lead ship of her class of pre-dreadnought battleships. She was built in 1898, commissioned in 1904, and sunk by torpedo off Portland Bill in 1914, the second British battleship to be sunk by enemy action during the First World War. Box measures 2 cm high by 5.5 cm by 8.5 cm. It still contains a couple of nibs. Condition: box is made of card, and has some wear and scuffs, but over all very sound.
