Snuff box pressed wood double bottom
First Empire, 1805-1810
Sumptuous work with on top of the box a battle scene. A soldier of the emperor is surrounded by enemies and utters the following words :
" Unable to save my flag I will not return without him to... ".
Beautiful patina honey, deep and warm tone.
The bottom of the box is decorated with a pattern recalling a military decoration.
the double bottom leaves appear once unscrewed a miniature on ivory depicting a couple.
Great fine detail and superb rendering.
Very good condition, wear from age.
