Little antique magic lantern, with glass mini lantern slides, which you can view through the eye piece of the viewer. They appear to be hand drawn and coloured, and each slide has four or five scenes on it. There are 15 slides in all. Some are numbered in sequence, so appear to tell a story, others are just heads of characters, or animals. Probably you have to make up your own story to match the scenes - a good exercise in imagination!
The little metal viewer measures 8.5 cm long and 2.7 cm diameter. The slides are each 2.5 cm by 10 cm, and fit in the slot halfway up the viewer tube. There is also a spare lens, not sure where this fits - have tried it on the end, but it doesn't add anything to the viewing. They came in an old Gold Flake tobacco box, and I have left them in it. Victorian, 19th century.
