Little pomander ball, carved coquilla nut, vegetable ivory. Unscrews in the middle so that herbs/spices or even scented cotton can be placed inside. Lots of pierced work holes to allow the fragrances to escape. It would have been used to perfume one's laundry in the coffer or chest of drawers. Also as a sort of pot pourri holder to scent a room. Item measures 4 cm high and 4.6 cm diameter. Excellent condition.
