Extremely rare sled shaped objet d'art, this piece is inscribed " A relic of the Artic Expedition of 1877." Comprised of a metal frame and wiring the sides are wooden, presumably a relic of the original polar expedition of Henry How gate. After publishing his plan for "polar Colonization" How gate's plan was for an international collaborative effort of related and simultaneous observations of weather and magnetic phenomena in the Arctic. How gate did manage to mount two advance expeditions to the high Artic.
