Burmese Puppet heads early 20th century. Three pieces stand mounted. Burmese decoration includes hair, shell inlaid eyes, and some custom adornment with glass jewels. Burmese puppets were used for cummunity education and entertainment. A very differnt style from thier Thai neighbors, the Burmese pupets were made with moving mouths, and looked and dressed as the people. Most Thai puppets of this era where decorated in Khon style following the art forms of the Ramakein from the Indian epic "Ramayana". A very famous Burmese puppet show is the tale of "Four Puppets".
