Circa 1900. Charming Folk Art cradle. This antique crib is both a work of art and a completely usable piece of fine furniture. The large bed features a nicely shaped top rail and carved spindles, which fit into a framework also turned and spindled. The tall turned end has a removable carved swans neck, carved in the best Folk Art tradition, which was probably used to hold a decorative and protective netting. The cradle may be rocked in this frame or held in place by a removable spindle which is the only replaced piece of wood on this fine antique. All original cradle and frame, latter removable solid mattress support. Old re-gluing and minor repair. Safe and ready for use. 69" tallest (bird) x 48" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 33" tall (top of crib body).
