This is a unique temple cornice from Anhui province, China. It depicts a scholar and two attendants with a large fan. It dates from the Ming Dynasty (14th - 17th century). It is carved fully on both sides and was meant to be seen from below. It is on a basic black wood stand. Measures 28 x 17 x 4 1/2 inches (71 x 43 x 12cm) On the stand it measures 32 x 20 x 5 inches, (81 x 51 x 13cm). The attendant on the front has a replaced face and the staff on the rear has a replaced section of the shaft. Smaller imperfections do to age throughout. Please ask for more photos.
