Kangxi Period (1662-1722) Pair of Seated Lion Foo Dogs measuring 8 1/4" in height. This is a pair of Foo Dogs that are the earliest foo dogs that we have ever had. They are absolutely exquisite. They were made in the far east, probably china and they are composed of pottery and not porcelain. These are just simply wonderful with such fine detailed form and beautiful enamel painting on a biscuit base. The aubergine, yellow and green colors are absolutely fabulous. These were purchased recently out of a New York Estate that had some of the finest chinese objects of art that I have had in many a year. The condition is good considering the age. Minor frits to the ears and some minor frits to the edges of the base.
