On a yellow ground, the body forming almost a ball on a stand. This fabulous Guangxu mark and period Imperial kiln item is decorated in some of the best famille rose decoration to appear on later Qing period pieces. The bats are fun almost playful and the the profusion of peaches and tree branches, leaves and tendrils, the iron red, green, yellow, and blue bats are a tour de force of Chinese enameling at its zenith. Very interesting with its 3 piece construction and twisted iron handles. Almost would think it was a butter dish but the iron handles one would think it was for keep rice or something else warm. The base with a six character iron red Guangxu mark and of the period. 7 in. tall. And amazingly without repair or damage only very minor wear.
