Circa 1770 Chinese Export Mandarin Palette Tea Poy of Superb Quality. This bulbulous shape and form with the gilded rock work on the base is of Magnificent Quality. Tea poys of this shape and form are rare to find with such finely detailed painting and artwork with wonderful gold highlighting. This tea caddy has a silver top which was probably added in the early 1800's because the standard tiny covers are so small they either get lost or damaged. There is one chip on the rim that the cover hides which we have shown in one of the images. This small chip and some slight gilding loss does not detract from the beauty of this great tea caddy. Other than what I have mentioned this tea poy is in good condition with no cracks or restoration. It measures 4 1/2" in height.
