incredible antique Japanese netsuke, circa 19th century. This carved ivory piece is in the image of a mermaid but with a kabuki face! The face actually rotates on a spindle to reveal alternating alluring and evil faces.The piece is signed on the bottom-certainly created by a master craftsman.
