A transitional period piece of classic Chimu-Inca form but with a European, green alkaline glaze. This type of vessel was made for a very short period, between 1532 and about 1575. Rectangular base decorated in relief with jaguars chasing the tail of the jaguar in front of them forms the base, and a bridge handled spout arises from the top. The hollow spout arises from one and a chamber with seated jaguar at top bearing the working whistle, extends from the other. 7"H x 5-1/8"W, small probe hole at one end, repair/reattachment of spouts, else quite nice with wonderful toned whistle.
