41302 Antique Tabriz, Persia, circa 1900 - The spectacular antique Tabriz is inspired by classical Persian garden carpets of the eighteenth century. The field is divided by intersecting borders into four quadrants, each divided yet again by finer borders into six squares with their own miniatures compositions of shrubs inhabited by animals. Shifting ground colors help to set the various squares apart from one another. A broad arabesque vinescroll main border encloses the entire field, with flanking minor borders to help frame the overall composition. With is various scenes of paradise, this piece is like having many different smaller rugs in one.
