Antique Tabriz, Persia, circa 1900 - On this stately antique Tabriz a scalloped oval medallion filled with flowers and vines hovers amidst monumental cornerpieces of similar design with a scatter of tiny leaves and flowers in the intervening ground. A richly detailed palmette vinescroll makes up the main border, flanked by minor borders of similar design. Yet the complexity of the detail is nicely mollified by a cool, highly decorative palette limited to varied shades of tan and cocoa.
