Antique Heriz Serapi Persian Rug, Although wool Heriz carpets are generally made in the medallion format, those woven with silk pile tend to be allover designs of the type more often associated with Mahals, Kirmans, or Sarouks. On this one the field consists of a delicate filigree design of oval medallions and eight-pointed stars, along with tendril sprays, all arranged in staggered vertical columns. A beautiful vine scroll border frames and complements the delicacy of the field. The luxuriant quality of the design is all the more effective in glowing soft silk. Not only is this an extremely high quality piece, but the use of colors and design make it wonderfully decorative as well.
