Antique Oushak / Ushak, Turkey, circa 1900 In place of the allover palmette designs often encountered on antique Oushak carpets, this one has a grand, four-petalled medallion and corner pieces. Sinuous arabesque tendrils curl gracefully across the intervening space of the field, while a lovely vinescroll border frames the entire design. Highly decorative sand and cocoa tones prevail, except for the border with its sparing accents of burgundy rosettes.
