Antique Khotan Long Rug, East Turkestan, circa 1920Though woven in the region west of Tibet, the design of this elegant antique Khotan harks back to the designs of Persian carpets. The field is comprised of staggered stepped medallions and surrounded by vinescroll borders, all reminiscent of Kurdish rugs. The soft peach and apricot coloration, however, is distinctly Khotan and eminently decorative.
