Antique Khotan Oriental Rug, circa 1900This grand antique Khotan from East Turkestan displays the classic Turkoman design typical the regions farther west - vertical rows of small lobed medallions with finer secondary elements between them, surrounded by a box border containing varied elements. This Khotan, however, adapts the traditional tribal design to a much larger format and a softer palette of sands, mauves, and taupes, making it a superior decorative carpet.
