Antique Persian Kerman Rug from Persia, circa 1900 - This lovely antique Kerman is extraordinary in its design of naturalistic branches of fruity foliage. Both the field and the border are covered with a sprawl of rose bouquets on a golden ground. They are rendered with the life-like detail of French Aubusson or Savonnerie carpets. Only the rhythmic repetition of the bouquets in rows as an allover design betrays the underlying Oriental aesthetic of the weavers.
