Irish Arts and Crafts, circa 1900 - While the weave and soft palette of this lovely carpet identify it as an antique Irish piece, the ornamental details are entirely Oriental, although rendered with a European touch. The magnificent palmette border is classically Persian, as are the delicate little flowers of the field. Still the arrangement of the field as a scatter of unconnected blossoms is an Irish feature. Rarely do we see such a pleasing blend of East and West.
