Antique Bibkabad Persian Rug, early 20th century - A fine, small-scaled pattern of paisley or boteh motifs linked by stems pulsates rapidly across the field of this elegant Bibikabad. It is so closely arranged that the blue ground is virtually reduced to contour accents for the botehs. A very different, more softly outlined vinescroll pattern fills the border, allowing the soft blue ground to show through, providing a delicate contrast to the drawing and tonality of the field.
