17th Century Esfahan / Isfahan Gallery Carpet from the great Persian Safavid Empire - The floral repertory and the various figural motifs - animal combats, hunters on horseback, and the seated figure of a king with attendants at the center - all compare closely to other examples from the Safavid period 1500 AD - 1722 AD. The lovely, soft tonality in shades of apricot, soft green, and blue is once again Persian rather than Indian, making this classical collector piece an excellent decorative rug in a modern setting as well as a true historical artifact from years past.
