Antique Cairene Rug, 16th century - This magnificent, large-scale palace carpet was made in the Ottoman court workshops of Cairo almost five centuries ago. Yet the consummate grace and delicacy of its classic arabesque vinescroll design and the subtle beauty of its soft coloration still shine through. Although a museum quality piece, its remarkable condition still renders it a usable decorative carpet for an appropriately grand setting.
