Gorgeous zen buddhist temple altar stand which can be used for placement of deity or candle or anything of one's choice. Meiji Period c.1890 from a temple north of Tokyo. Purchased 5 from a temple and this is the last one left. Wood is hinoki japanese cypress and the lacquer is gold on the base, lotus leaf and black on the top.
