Antique, 15th - 18th century, Himalaya Nepalese copper alloy - bronze figure of Buddha, seated in dhyanasana on the base, decorated with a row of lotus petals and backed by a double flaming mandorla.
It is very difficult to date such types of the Buddha figures, since they were made in the same style from the early Middle Ages to the present day, but the age can be determined by the condition of the object, including wear, patina, and mineral deposit.
This particular figure its showing its age and usage, the figure is worn out on the exposed areas, from centuries of rubbing by worshippers. Also the exterior of the bronze has extinguished a natural, deep reddish and green, patina. Such natural patina needs centuries to slowly build on the surface of the bronze, and cannot be imitated by chemicals.
