Exceptional zen buddhist temple altar lantern. The flaming jewel at the top has an unusual staff and ball at the top. The lantern dates from the Showa Period c.1950 and actually had the oil plates inside with wicks. They were very gritty so we removed them. The metal is a bronze alloy. The paper lining the inside is original and has some oil stains. We can repaper on request. The little bells hanging on the mythical elephants are missing. Otherwise very good condition.
