ROSEVILLE POTTERY, CARNELIAN I, BLUE, 2 HANDLED PLANTER - For Sale

ROSEVILLE POTTERY, CARNELIAN I, BLUE, 2 HANDLED PLANTER
Price: $250.00
For sale I have a lovely Planter made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is known as Carnelian I. It is done in the most desirable Robin's Egg Blue with a Darker Slate or Country Blue Drip Glaze. The Vase measures 10 1/4" wide, outside handles measurement. The Planter stands 3 5/8" tall and is 5 5/8" deep. This is a Footed and Handled Oval Shaped Planter or Bowl.

The Planter displays a wonderful drip of a Darker Blue Glaze applied over the softer Blue. This makes it appear as if the Planter is overflowing with this Darker color. The inside of the piece is also done in the Darker Blue Glaze. The Handles are just wonderful. They are applied at each end of the Planter. They are triangular shaped and also have this two tone affect as well. This piece has an Art Deco appeal but will also work well in a Mission setting.

The Planter is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. It is signed with the Early Roseville Ink Stamp "RV" mark as well as the letters BGP written over the numbers 225 in Pencil. I would tend to think that the BGP was the seller's code for his cost and more than likely the 225 was the Retail Price of $2.25 for this. This was a fair amount of money in the early 1900's. This is known as shape number 162-8 in the Roseville Catalog pages.

This piece would be a lovely addition to one's Roseville Carnelian I Collection. The Glaze Color works wonderful with Country Decor. This Lovely piece of Roseville was made Circa 1910-1915. It is absolutely amazing that it has survived 100 years and it is in such great condition.
