• Whieldon Ware "Oriental" Pattern # 8352
• Made by F. Winkle & Company, Ltd. in Stoke, England who operated from 1890 to 1931.
• The back stamp on each piece was in use from 1908 until 1925, however the ‟Ltd." was added to the name in 1911; so this narrows the period of manufacture to between 1911 and 1925.
• They are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Details are clear and vivid. There is some shadow age-crazing in the craquelure glaze, and there is some wear in the gold trim at the edge of the fruit bowl centerpiece.
• The pattern features grayish-green transfer print with hand-painted polychrome highlights.
• The 9 octagonal fruit plates are 8 ¾" across. The outer floral border is defined by green ribbon; the central design is set off with a geometric band. Within is a classic Oriental garden that features an aqua philosopher's stone; blooming Chinese tree peonies, ‟Mudan"; and a pair of swallows in flight.
• The fruit bowl centerpiece is 9¼" x 9¼" x 6½ h. Octagonal in shape its decorative motif repeats the design on the plates; however, it also has branch-shaped handles, ad is trimmed with gold.
• The detached base of the centerpiece is octagonal and fitted to support the fruit bowl securely. The base has modelling that reflects branch-shaped handles which have gold highlights.
• The cost of shipping via Fed-Ex is not included in the listed price.
