SOLD: Circa 1640 stout, straight side case bottle beautifully engraved with a portrait of St. Hubert in medieval dress with crossbow kneeling on one knee before his vision of the holy deer with a crucifix shining divine light upon him. Stunning engraving! Deep green thick glass with pewter mouth and screw cap and pontil scar on base.
It was made circa 1630-1650 and most probably engraved in the 1725-1750 period. The bottle is about 9 ½†tall x 5 ¼†across the base. Perfect clear deep green glass and tons of base wear. These very early pewter top case bottles are seldom offered, let alone one with such a magnificent engraving!
Price is firm.
