Such jugs were produced for the transport and storage of liquids early on. Vessels as such would have had thick walls and strong handles.The jug has a cylindrical body and an applied handle. The rim is out-splayed and the lip rounded. The neck is cylindrical with a tapering at the top. The strap handle is applied on the bottle.Jugs of this type were found around the eastern and western Roman Empire. - (BB.1613)
