This is a very fine early 19th century American Federal carved and inlaid figured mahogany two drawer work table of Salem or Boston, Massachusetts north shore characteristics. It is attributed to the workshop associated with William Hook due to water leaf carving, bead work, and star punch decoration in relief or someone of equal rank associated with the Salem - Boston school of cabinetmakers. It has refine scale, skilled construction, carving, and lovely proportions. It retains good period Sheraton oval brasses, that maybe the second set. Mellow nut brown patina.
