Tall Case Clock. Original dark finish; brass; white and gold leaf. Wood; iron; metal; glass; brass. The English tall case clock has a bonnet (or hood) with a broken arch pediment, columns and a tombstone door. The columns have brass caps, top and bottom. The deeply carved pediment arch has brass rosettes. The dial is painted white with gold leaf decorations in the corners, a central gold leaf hour glass with wings painted on top and Roman numerals. There small glass windows on each side of the hood. The clock has a second hand dial. The ornate hands show traces of gold leaf. The dial is marked in gold script, "Wm. Robb, Montrose." The heavy weight-driven, 8-day works are brass and chime the hour.
