An early 20th C fighting dagger with diamond shaped blade and spear point. The well crafted, steel blade is waisted just below the guard and swells to a double edge with medial ridge. The guard is oval and made of steel. The turned, hardwood hilt is attached to a threaded tang. The leather scabbard is tooled in a lattice pattern and has an unclear cypher on the suspension strap, perhaps Dios and Batt.77? Perhaps a personal dagger worn by a member of the 77th Artillery Battery? The dagger and scabbard are in excellent condition,no rust or losses. Early 20th C, perhaps as late as the Spanish Civil War. Dagger length, 12", blade 8".
