A rare version of the Royal Danish Naval, or Army officer’s, dirk-dagger, 1870 pattern with Tapered double edged blade, marked at the ricasso Magasin du Nord KJOBENHAVN. Mounted in beveled horn grip with brass crossguard pommel and ferrule. In its original leather scabbard mounted with a brass chape, and locket with two loops for suspension.
Condition: Horn grip with some scratches, some pitted spots on the blade and scratches, chape with minor dents.
This particular version of Royal Danish officer’s dirk-dagger, 1870 pattern, had a different shape of the pommel than most of this pattern, also the brass scabbard mountings are different, instead of three mountings like all of similar daggers this one has only the chape, and locket with two loops for suspension.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 33.5 cm (13.19 inches). Overall length of the dagger without the scabbard: 29.2 cm (11.5 inches).
