Rare antique, 17th - 18th century, Ukrainian Zaporozhian Cossack staghorn gun powder - flask with a bifurcated body engraved with traditional Ukrainian folk designs, with an elaborate rosette on the center and an engraved figure of a stag. Fitted with a nozzle and two stoppers.
REFERENCES: Very similar Powder Horns are published in the book "Украина- козацька держава" by Володимир ÐедÑк. (Ukrainian Cossack state by Volodymyr Nedyak) Pages: 241, 242, and 243.
The buyer will be provided with a copy of the pages from the mentioned references, together with a certificate of authenticity.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 21 cm (8.27 inches).
CONDITION: In its original good condition showing the age and usage, with a dark brown patina, horn with minor age cracks.
There is an old paper label, with illegible ink hand writing, glued to the base.
