This very large French mixing bowl (the legendary French tian) was used in a French farmhouse from South of France in late 1800''s. Traditional in the south of France, this clay bowl is heavy and solid. It was used for several years in French kitchens for washing dishes or cooking. Made from terra cotta, it was also used for double-duty as an oven bowl. Little chips, and one part of an handle is missing (but it is a very old bowl used for a very long time!!!)h: 12.25''/ diameter: 21.50''. You can see that this bowl was glazed on the inside for ease of cleaning and finished on the outside with a terra cotta rub. On photo, you will notice the large size of the bowl regarding the chair.
