Late 19C or early 20C. Beautiful 14kt gold crystal essex stick pin of an Akita dog.
The pin has a reverse painted crystal dome with mother-of-pearl backing (A reverse crystal dome is rock crystal that is cut into a convex form and then polished into a cabochon. Then a relief image is carved from the back and hand painted. This gives the image a three dimensional look) The crystal dome measures 1/2" across, and the pin is 2 5/8" in length.
Pin is in very good condition. I love the way the dog has his tongue sticking out.
