Unusual cameo brooch, showing a front-on domed portrait of a young woman with ringlets and beads in her hair. (Cameos are normally carved more in the profile position). Genuine shell cameo, with a mount of 9ct rose gold. The edges of the mount are scalloped and engraved with a scroll design. Large brooch, measuring 53 mm by 44 mm (2.1/9 inches by 1.3/4 inches). It has a small loop at the top suitable for attaching a safety chain. Full British hallmark to the rear, for Birmingham, 1990. Made in the Victorian style. Excellent condition, very nice quality cameo. Shipping is by Air Courier unless a cheaper uninsured method is required.
